about

Hi! I'm Jane and I bake things.

I grew up in downtown Toronto surrounded by Chinatown and the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO). As a child, I took art classes, chinese classes, more art classes, and more chinese classes. I spent all my Sundays at the AGO: painting, sculpting, posing for my mum's photos, and speaking gibberish. In kindergarten, storytelling was my career path of choice; before I could read I was holding books upside down and having story time sessions with my class. As I grew up, my mom sent me to every class and camp possible - abacus, dance, french, math, english, horseback riding, swimming, art art art.

Eventually I just got into the habit of baking. My high school had bake sales every week (practically every day) and I always volunteered to bake for my clubs. Somewhere between all of that, I became obsessed with this idea of having a bakery.

And that's all led me here.

Currently, I'm 20 and pursuing a Bachelors of Commerce and minor in Visual Studies. As a business program, the culture in itself is very forward thinking - what do you want to do? Where do you see yourself? This job or this job? My reply is always "I just want a bakery." I want to own a bakery, have a pickup truck, and live with my pet pig and pug. I want to tell stories, travel, bake, and paint

I've currently got a bakery business with a friend, pushing me to bake more often and to spend more time being a better person in every aspect.

I hope you find as much joy on this blog as I've had growing up with it the last few years. All the best and happy baking!

- Jane
